About Our Founder
Richard J. Bernes
Mr. Bernes, a graduate from the University of
Illinois, College of Pharmacy, practiced as a
Registered Pharmacist before joining the Federal
Bureau of Investigation (FBI). He was a Special
Agent with FBI for over twenty (20) years. Mr.
Bernes’ investigations transcended a wide variety of
crimes. His most notable accomplishments were in the
realm of high technology crimes and issues. During
his career he investigated, managed or both many
celebrated trade secret cases including: IBM vs.
Hitachi, Charles McVey, Kevin Anderson, William
Gaede, and others. In 1994 Mr. Bernes was selected
to pioneer and manage the FBI’s first High
Technology Crime Unit in Silicon Valley. He and his
group attained international prominence reported
frequently in the media. Mr. Bernes and James
Gillespie, Santa County District Attorney’s Office
created the REACT Task Force, currently comprised of
numerous law enforcement agencies targeting high
technology crime in Silicon Valley.
During his FBI career, Mr. Bernes supervised the
Gang Squad and was a SWAT team leader. That
experience coupled with his experience in the
private sector has positioned he and his company to
effectively handle work place violence issues and
executive protection.
Mr. Bernes has International experience and
contacts. He was a keynote speaker at training
seminars in Singapore, Malaysia, England, Scotland,
Ireland, Belgium, Denmark and The Netherlands. Mr.
Bernes conducted security assessments in Ireland,
England and The Netherlands.
Mr. Bernes
is the national president of the
Society of Former Special Agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation,
a fraternal and professional organization consisting of over 8000
members.
